While we are going along living our lives, AI scammers are creating a digital profile of you. They know where you live, where you work, your hobbies and your personal habits. This means they can recreate your voice and even predict your reactions. We live in a dangerous scam infested world.
This morning I received a message from my health insurance company saying they had an important message for me. Upon calling the AI asked my birth date to confirm my identity. The message was they didn’t receive my premium and if I didn’t pay in the next 4 days my insurance was going to be cancelled.
This was a scam. A scammer using AI had recreated all of Anthems voice prompts. There was no noticeable difference. All they needed to get me to to the right department was my health insurance ID number. If I gave them that information, which by the way is the most valuable information a hacker can get. Those numbers are sold on the dark web enabling my healthcare plan to be charged for fraudulent services and fraudulent users.
I spoke with Anthem, the toll free number does not belong to them and they have alerted their fraud department. We must be on guard everyday and we must be aware that we are just seeing the beginnings of AI fraud. The hackers are going to get smarter because AI technology is getting better. Be alert.
